1. Regarding repatriation of corpse found adrift near Yeonpyeongdo
The R.O.K. army found a corpse, assumed as a North Korean, in the sea off Yeonpyeongdo at around 2:50 P.M. on August 11.
Based on a joint government investigation, we have come to conclude that the body presumably belongs to a North Korean and have decided to return it to the North.
We tried informing the North today(8.23) at 9 A.M. through the Red Cross channel of our plans to repatriate the corpse through Panmunjeom on August 25 at 10 A.M., but the North did not respond.
We will notify the North of our plan once again through the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission today at 11:30 A.M.
