Regarding repatriation of corpse found adrift near Yeonpyeongdo
The
R.O.K. army found a corpse, assumed as a North Korean, in the sea
off Yeonpyeongdo at around 8 A.M. on August 30.
After
a joint government investigation, we have come to conclude that the
body presumably belongs to a North Korean and have decided to return
it to the North.
We
tried informing the North today(9.13) at 9 A.M. through the Red
Cross channel of our plans to repatriate the corpse through
Panmunjeom on September 18 at 2 P.M., but the North did not respond.
We
will notify the North of our plan once again through the United
Nations Command Military Armistice Commission today at 3:30 P.M.
