3. Q&A (Extract)

Q. You have mentioned in a previous briefing that the request to deliver humanitarian aid to the North is not being approved based on voluntary cooperation by relative organizations. However, some groups are expressing dissatisfaction, arguing that the Ministry is presenting a submissive attitude. Does the Ministry have any comments?

A. There was a very unfortunate incident in the West Sea, and as far as I am aware, civic groups that provide humanitarian aid to the North are cooperating voluntarily. For clarification, the Ministry has not called for an overall ban on delivery – it is the organizations that are holding off the execution. Sending aid to the North will resume as soon as situations improve.

Q. A media report claims that North Korea and China have agreed to resume rail travel starting October 30, and that tourists will be able to travel to the North. Does the Ministry have any knowledge on this issue?

A. We are keeping a close eye on the situation, and there has not been any noticeable changes in the past week. We will continue to look out for any and all signs of change.
