The Institute for Unification Education held the first meeting of
‘the Secondary Public-Private Partnership Conference on Unification
Education,’ at 11am on April 23 at Korea Press Center.
In operation since 2015, ‘the Secondary Public-Private Partnership
Conference on Unification Education’ has been formed in order to forge
a social consensus on Unification Education.
The Secondary Public-Private Partnership consists of a total of 26
members, including public-private co-chairpersons Lee Hyeon-suk
ofUnification Education Committee Central Council (of the private
sector) and Vice-Minister of UnificationChun Hae-sung (of the public
sector), as well as private organizations in the area of unification
education, individual members of committee of school councils, eminent
academic figures in the area of North Korea and Unification, and
members of the National Assembly.
In this meeting, important items discussed on the agenda were
△Operational Direction of the Unification Education Public-Private
Partnership, △Plans for major operations in 2018, △Items of
preparation for mandatory unification education in the public sector,
and △Guideline for unification education (plan), etc.
Through this meeting, the Ministry of Unificationhopes to forge a
social consensus regarding unification education and problems related
to North Korea, opening a forum of discussion for citizens in the process.
