1. Minister’s Schedule
On March 14, Unification Minister Kwon Youngse will meet with
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Zbigniew Rau to discuss the
current situation on the Korean peninsula and ways to cooperate on
North Korea policy.
On March 15, Minister Kwon will attend the first meeting of the
Unification Future Planning Committee held at the Office of the
inter-Korean Dialogue. The committee will discuss plans to operate the
committee and measures in establishing New Future Initiative on
Unification and implementing the Audacious Initiative.
On March 17, Minister Kwon will meet with representatives of
inter-Korean exchange and cooperation organizations and listen to
their difficulties.
2. Q&A
Q) There was a report today that North Korea launched two cruise
missiles from a submarine yesterday. What is the Ministry’s stance on
the North’s repeated missile provocations?
A) It is deeply regrettable that North Korea uses our annual and
defensive drills as a pretext for the recent provocations. We hope the
North will realize that nothing is to be gained by escalating tensions
on the Korean Peninsula.
