On May 17, Unification Minister Kwon Youngse attended the South-North
Korean Cooperation for Climate Change Response 2 Forum hosted by World
Vision and delivered congratulatory remarks.
During his remarks, Minister Kwon said, “Although the Korean
Peninsula is divided into the South and the North, we must come
together to tackle the environmental crisis brought about by climate
change as it is a problem for the entire peninsula.”
“The Yoon administration is not only preparing response measures to
address climate change in a range of fields but also searching for
ways to cooperate with the North,” he added.
Additionally, the minister stated that “the initial steps of ‘Green
Détente’ and ‘Audacious Initiative,’ which have been consistently
proposed by the Korean government, will serve as a great support to
overcome such circumstances.”
Lastly, he strongly “urged North Korean authorities to join efforts
in the South-North Cooperation as soon as possible so that both South
and North Korean residents can live in a healthier environment.”
