(December 3)
On December 3, Minister of Unification Kim Yung Ho delivered
welcoming remarks at a seminar titled “Unification Story with the
International Community,” hosted by the Korea Institute for National Unification.
The seminar featured a presentation of the results of the “2024
Global Unification Awareness Survey,” the first such survey of global
citizens, and a session where foreigners from eight countries and
young people from both South and North Korea discussed the unification
of the Korean Peninsula.
In his welcoming remarks, Minister Kim emphasized that the starting
point for achieving a “free unification” that contributes to the
international political order lies in “accurately understanding global
citizens’ thoughts and awareness on the Korean Peninsula and the
unification issue.”
The minister further stated that the South Korean government will
“contribute to global peace and prosperity through the smooth
implementation of the August 15 Unification Doctrine and actively
build solidarity with the international community.”
Moreover, Minister Kim highlighted that the “unification of the
Korean Peninsula” is a global task that must be approached and
developed together with the international community to contribute to
global peace and prosperity. He said, “Starting with the global
unification awareness survey, the Ministry of Unification will work
toward the ‘globalization of unification operations’ through the eyes
of the global citizens.”
