Five organizations join forces to strengthen the financial and
economic capabilities of North Korean defectors
Hanawon, Center for Culture of Unification Studies, Financial
Supervisory Service, Hangyeore Middle and High School, and Yeomyung
School sign an MOU (January 9)
On January 9, Hanawon* of the Ministry of Unification signed a
memorandum of understanding with the Financial Supervisory Service,
the Center for Culture of Unification Studies, Hangyeore Middle and
High School, and Yeomyung School to support the stable settlement of
North Korean defectors into our society.

The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Seung Shin, Director of
Hanawon, Lee Bokhyun, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service,
Ra Jong Eok, Chairman of the Center for Culture of Unification
Studies, Lee Jin Hee, Principal of Hangyeore Middle and High School,
Cho Myung Sook, Principal of Yeomyung School, along with students from
the schools and representatives from the respective organizations.
Through this memorandum of understanding, the five organizations
plan to collaborate closely to strengthen the financial and economic
capabilities of North Korean defector youth by providing financial
education support and developing educational content.
At the ceremony, Lee Seung Shin, Director of Hanawon, stated, “We
will continue to work with various institutions to support the stable
settlement of North Korean defectors and strive to create an improved
environment for their settlement.”
