August 28, 2002 Ministry of Unification
A student troupe affiliated with Jocheongryon, the
pro-North Korean resident association based in Japan, will visit South Korea
early next month for two rounds of performances.
The Ministry of Unification approved on August 20 the
invitation for a performance submitted by the "Korea Youth Fraternity" as an
inter-Korean "socio-cultural cooperative project."
The invited group is composed of winners of annual
artistic competitions at various levels of schools under the control of
Jocheongryon. Its performances in Seoul on September 4 and in Jeonju two days
later will be joined by select members of Seoul Traditional Art High School and
Jeonju Art High School, respectively.
The event will mark the first exchange between youths of
South Korea and Jocheongryon and contribute to the unity and harmony of the
Korean people. |
