Headlines of North Korean periodical articles now accessible through the Information Center on North Korea website

May 14, 2021

To increase access for the general public and researchers to official and public data of North Korea and improve information service, the Ministry of Unification will upload lists of Rodong Sinmun article headlines on the website of the Information Center on North Korea starting May 14, 2021.

Previously, searching for Rodong Sinmun articles online was not possible. Those who wished to browse had to visit the Information Center in Seocho-dong, Seoul in person.

Beginning May 14, people can search the entire archive list of 730,000 Rodong Sinmun headlines through the Center’s website (unibook.unikorea.go.kr) as well as the North Korea Information Portal (nkinfo.unikorea.go.kr).

The headline list includes 730,000 Rodong Sinmun articles from 1946 to 2019, and the Ministry will make available 240,000 articles of the Minju Choson and the Munhak Sinmun, etc. in May.

   * Article lists of the following North Korean periodicals will be open to the public : Rodong Sinmun (1946-2019), Minju Choson (1951-1967 and 2004-2019), Munhak Sinmun (1956-1967 and 2004-2019), and The Pyongyang Times (1968-1974 and 2004-2019).
   * Due to Covid-19, there has been a delay in obtaining the North’s papers published since 2020. Once the resources are acquired, the Ministry will open it to the public.

The Ministry will upload the list of North Korean articles that were published after 2020 as soon as it gets hold of the periodicals. The public can read the actual articles at the Center after checking the list of headlines online.

The Ministry of Unification will continue to improve its information provision service of North Korean resources to offer convenience in accessing the data for objective understanding and research purposes.
