ROK Government’s Proposal to hold Working-level Contacts for
Cooperation in Public Health and Quarantine Efforts
May 16, 2022
The ROK Government made an attempt to send a letter to North
Korea at 11A.M. today(5.16) under the name of Unification Minister
Kwon Young-se to Director Kim Yong Chol of the United Front Department
through the South-North Joint Liaison Office in relation to
cooperation in the public health and quarantine efforts of COVID-19,
but the North has yet to express its will to accept the document.
The ROKG would like to provide medical supplies including vaccines,
medicines, masks, diagnostic equipment in response to the outbreak of
the Omicron variants in the North, and pursue technical cooperation
based on the quarantine experience of the South. To this end, the
Government would like to send a letter proposing to hold working-level contacts.
We look forward to receiving a positive response from the North
to our request on cooperation in public health and quarantine efforts.
