Unification Ministry invites applications from private organizations
to survey North Korean defectors
January 19, 2023
In a bid to promote private research on North Korean human rights,
the Unification Ministry is inviting applications from private
organizations to conduct a survey on North Korean human rights at the
Settlement Support Center for North Korean Refugees (Hanawon).
Private organizations, as well as university research institutes
that have been active in North Korean human rights issues are eligible
to apply.
The selected organization will independently select survey targets
and questionnaires, and carry out surveys of up to 10 people for each
graduating class. It will also receive administrative assistance
regarding access to the Hanawon.
The Unification Ministry expects that this survey conducted by a
private organization will help supplement the Government's research on
the actual conditions of North Korean human rights and raise public
awareness.
This call is open for applications from January
19 to February 16, and we look forward to active interest and
participation from related private organizations.
