Korean Government Statement (November 18) > 1. The
Korean government strongly criticized the launch of long-range
ballistic missiles (ICBM) by North Korea today. The ICBM
launch by North Korea is definitely an infringement upon the
UN Security mandate and a severe provocation, elevating
tension in the region as well as on the Korean peninsula.
2. All behaviors by North Korea related to nuclear and
ballistic missile programs inhibited through the UN Security
Council Mandate shall not be legitimated for any reason. The
Korean government will not accept provocations by North Korea
and will closely work with the UN and the international
community to call North Korea to account for provocations on
the basis of close ROK and US cooperation. Moreover, the
Korean government will enhance security cooperation among the
ROK, the US, and Japan more than ever. 3. The Korean
government has an overwhelming reaction ability and will
immediately punish any provocations by North Korea. Thus,
North Korea should not misjudge the ability and will of the
ROK. 4. North Korea has nothing to gain from continuing
provocations. The international community keeps strengthening
sanctions against North Korea, and the international
alienation of North Korea will be more aggravated. Moreover,
wrong decisions by the North Korean regime will aggravate
people’s livelihood falling into extreme economic difficulties

launch was determined under the circumstances that hypocritical
and strength sophistry condemning even the self-defense right of
a sovereign country as a provocation at every step was justified
even in UN, and the irrational military confrontation threats by

enemies stick to the war practice and ‘supply and strengthen the

aggressive the military reactions by the DPRK should

and the ROK creeps frantically stick to press the DPRK using
sanctions, the greater the hostility and anger the DPRK must get
and become a trap strangling their windpipe.” <
