On May 30, the North Korean media reported that Pak Pong Ju, vice
chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea
(WPK), gave field guidance at the construction site of the
Chongchongang-Phyongnam irrigation waterway.
On May 31, the North Korean media reported that Premier Kim Jae
Ryong provided field guidance at the Miru Plain waterway in North
Hwanghae Province, the Songrim Co-op Farm in Goksan County, the
Sinhung Co-op Farm in Singye County, and the Land Improvement
Enterprise on the Singye Miru Plain.
On May 31, the North Korean media reported that the DPRK National
Commission for UNESCO is now pushing to have the Mt. Baekdu area as a
UNESCO Global Geopark.
On June 1, the North Korean media reported that the North is working
hard to prevent the spread of coronavirus including encouraging the
people to use contactless service.
On June 2, the North Korean media emphasized that the North would
build a prosperous and powerful country based on people-first doctrine.
On June 3, the North Korean media reported that the North kicked off
the large-scale Hwangju-Kindung waterway project.
On June 5, the North Korean media reported that Pak Pong Ju, vice

【Inter-Korean Affairs】
On June 4, the North Korean media reported that Kim Yo Jong, first
vice-department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, warned
the South against the sending of anti-DPRK leaflets.
On June 5, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for
the United Front Department (UFD), in a statement, argued for the
closure of the inter-Korean joint liaison office.
【Foreign Affairs】
On May 30, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a Q&A session with KCNA
reporters, fully supported China’s recent enactment of the national
security law for Hong Kong at a meeting of the National People’s
Congress of China.
On June 3, the North Korean media blasted the display of the Rising
Sun Flag and the Korean Peninsula map in the office of Japanese
Defense Minister Taro Kono.
On June 4, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for
the International Department of the Central Committee of the WPK, in a
statement, condemned US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s remarks
regarding China.
