【Internal Affairs】

On June 8, the North Korean media reported that Kim Jong Un presided over the 13th Political Bureau Meeting of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK).

On June 6, the North Korean media reported that Premier Kim Jae Ryong provided field guidance at various units including the construction site of the Chongchongang-Phyongnam Irrigation Waterway, the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex, the Anju Pump Factory, the Taean Heavy Machine Complex, and the Jangsan Electrical Appliances Factory.

On June 9, the North Korean media called for improvement of class education.

 

【Inter-Korean Affairs】

On June 6, the North Korean media condemned the South for sending anti-North Korean leaflets.

On June 8, the North Korean media reported that the North would sternly respond to scattering of the anti-North Korean leaflets, which have triggered the collapse of inter-Korean relations

On June 9, the North Korean media reported that the North will completely cut off all communication lines between the two Koreas from 12:00 p.m. on June 9, 2020.

On June 11, the North Korean media, in an editorial, asserted that there is a limit to the good will and tolerance… that enemies are enemies after all, and they will experience due punishment (The dignity of our supreme leadership is the lifeblood and mental pillar of our people).

On June 12, the North Korean media reported that Jang Kum Chol, director of the United Front Department of the Central Committee of the WPK, in a statement, blasted the Blue House’s position on the scattering of anti-North Korean leaflets.

 

【Foreign Affairs】

On June 7, the North Korean media expressed support for China’s measures in Hong Kong.

On June 11, the North Korean media reported that Kwon Jong Gun, director-general of the Department of U.S. Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, in a Q&A session with KCNA reporters, condemned the statement by the US Department of State.

On June 11, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a Q&A session with KCNA reporters, denounced the UN Secretary of General for expressing positions on the latest inter-Korean relations.

On June 12, the North Korean media reported that Foreign Minister Ri Son Gwon, in a statement marking the second anniversary of the June 12 Summit between North Korea and the US, said that the North’s strategic objective is to build a reliable force to manage the long-term military threats from the US.
