Ladies and gentlemen, it is a pleasure to greet you. I am Kim Yungho, Minister of Unification of the Republic of Korea.

오늘 밤 우리는 북한인권에 대한 인식을 제고하고
탈북민 예술가들의 전시를 축하하기 위해
한 자리에 모였습니다.
Tonight, we gather to raise awareness about North Korean human rights and to celebrate North Korean defectors art exhibition and performance.

먼저 바쁘신 와중에도 참석해주신
커트 캠벨 부장관님, 줄리 터너 북한인권대사님,
존 햄리 소장님, 빅터 차 교수님을 비롯한
귀빈들께 감사 인사를 드립니다.
First of all, I would like to use this opportunity to thank Deputy Secretary Kurt Campbell, Ambassador Julie Turner, , Dr. John Hamre, Professor Victor Cha and all distinguished guests who are here today.

저는 오늘, 앞선 두 개의 행사를 통해
북한인권 증진을 위한 한미일 3국의 굳건한 연대가
‘통일 대한민국’의 구현에 있어서
가장 든든한 토대가 되어 줄 것임을 확신했습니다.
These two previous events, have strengthened my confidence that the strong solidarity among the Republic of Korea, the United States, and Japan.
We create solid foundation of improving human rights condition and achieving an unified Korea.

한반도 구성원 모두가 자유와 인권과 풍요를
누리도록 하는 것이
대한민국이 그리는 통일의 미래이자
윤석열 정부의 대북정책의 핵심입니다.
Our vision for unification is a future where all people on the Korean Peninsula enjoy freedom, human rights, and prosperity. These values are the corner stone of president Yoon’s North Korea policy.

오늘 아름다운 공연과 전시로
‘통일 대한민국’의 모습을
여러분들께 먼저 보여주신 분들이 계십니다.
Today, there are those among us who have already given us a glimpse of what a "Unified Korea" might look like through beautiful performances and exhibitions.

바로 탈북 예술가분들입니다.
They are North Korean defector artists.

이분들의 예술활동은
자유롭고 공정한 기회가 주어졌을 때,
인간의 창의성과 재능이
얼마나 아름답게 발현될 수 있는지를 보여주고 있습니다.
Their artistic activities demonstrate how human creativity and talent can flourish when free and fair opportunities are provided.

오늘 함께해주신 클래식 기타리스트 유은지님과
화가 강춘혁, 전주영, 안충국 작가님은
탈북 과정에서의 아픔과 희망을 예술로 승화시는 데
앞장서고 있습니다.
Classical guitarist 유은지 and artists 강춘혁, 전주영 and 안충국 who joined us today, have transformed their pain and hope from the defection process into art.

여러분들의 공연과 작품은 인권과 자유에 대한
강력한 메시지이며,
우리가 북한 주민들의 목소리에 귀기울이고
함께 행동해야함을 다시금 일깨워 줍니다.
Your performances and artworks send a powerful message about human rights and freedom, reminding us to listen to the voices of North Korean residents and to take action together.

앞으로도 대한민국 정부는 여러분들의 활동이
북한주민들에게 희망의 등불이 되고
국제사회에는 자유와 인권의 중요성을 알리는
계기가 될 수 있도록 최선의 노력을 다하겠습니다.
The Ministry of Unification will continue to make every effort to ensure that your activities become a beacon of hope for North Korean residents and an opportunity to highlight the importance of freedom and human rights to the international community.

다시 한 번, 자유의 땅에서 예술적 재능을 꽃피운
탈북 예술가들의 의지와 노력에 경의를 표하며
Once again, I express my deepest respect for the determination and efforts of North Korean defector artists who have blossomed with their artistic talents in the land of freedom.

자유와 인권의 확산을 위한 ‘통일 대한민국’의 여정에
국제사회의 변함없는 지지와 협력을 부탁 드리겠습니다.
I ask for the continued support and cooperation of the international community in the journey towards a "Unified Korea" that spreads freedom and human rights.
