1. Regarding the inter-Korean governmental working-level talks on the GIC

Through the inter-Korean governmental talks held last weekend, the R.O.K. government has prepared an opportunity to proceed to an ‘advanced level of normalization’ of the Gaeseong Industrial Complex(GIC). In addition, as the Park Geun-hye government has repeatedly emphasized, we demonstrated our stance that South and North Korean issues should be solved through dialogue under the principle of ‘trust-building process on the Korean peninsula.’

Based on this stance, we saw an initial result to issues regarding the GIC through dialogue. We believe that this is the first step of a long journey that we are about to take.

We would like to state that the R.O.K. government will calmly step forward with a sense of direction in building new South and North Korean relations.

There will be follow-up working-level talks on the GIC on July 10th. We will put our utmost efforts to take a step forward in moving towards an ‘advanced level of normalization’ of the GIC.

The GIC tenant companies will visit the North from July 10th in order to inspect their facilities in GIC. We will closely cooperate and negotiate with the Corporate Association of GIC for the visit to take place smoothly.
