1. Regarding the final proposal on holding working-level talks to discuss the Gaeseong Industrial Complex(GIC) issues
The opening call at Panmunjeom was made at 9 A.M., and there was no response from the North side regarding our proposal.
2. MOU holds a joint briefing session to help the GIC tenant companies secure sales channel for their products
The government will hold a joint briefing session to support the GIC tenant companies as they are facing difficulties in finding the sales channel for their finished products. The joint briefing session will be held at the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business on August 2nd at 2 P.M.
After the GIC tenant companies brought their finished products to the South from the GIC during July 12th-19th period, they have been facing difficulties in finding the sales channel and have requested government support.
Hence, the government set up a ‘joint task force’ managed by the Office for Government Policy Coordination on July 26th and decided to hold a joint briefing session in support of the GIC tenant companies.
3. MOU opens counseling centers for GIC tenant companies with difficulties
The unification ministry decided to open “counseling centers for the GIC tenant companies with difficulties” at the Inter-Korean Cooperation District Support Directorate and the Gaeseong Industrial Complex Zone Support Foundation as the suspension of the GIC operation is prolonged.
The counseling centers will accept visits, phone calls, and online registrations to hear out the difficulties of the tenant companies. The center will seek to find solutions and continuously monitor the progress until the final results are out.
