Proposal on holding family reunions upon Lunar New Year’s Day
l On the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year’s Day, the R.O.K. government proposed to hold the postponed family reunions which were scheduled to be held last September.
- In order to discuss this matter, we proposed to hold working-level Red-Cross contacts at Tongilgak, the North side of Panmunjeom on January 10th.
l Our proposal is a follow-up measure to our President’s New Year press conference(1.6) in which she called for holding of the family reunions in the near future so as to heal the wounded hearts of the elderly and the separated families.
l We look forward to a prompt response to our proposal from North Korea and hope that by successfully taking the first step of resuming the family reunion, we can open a new door of opportunity in inter-Korean relations.
