Minister Kim Yeon Chul will have a luncheon meeting with U.S.
Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun today(12.16).
On Tuesday(12.17), Minister Kim will attend the cabinet meeting at
10 A.M., and deliver congratulatory remarks at the East Asia Railway
Community Forum at 2 P.M.
On Wednesday(12.18), Minister Kim will deliver congratulatory
remarks at the reopening ceremony of the Gyeongnam Unification Hall at
2 P.M.
On Friday(12.20), Minister Kim will deliver congratulatory remarks
at the Korean Association of North Korean Studies’ academic seminar at
1:30 P.M.
2. Vice Minister's Schedules
Vice Minister Suh Ho will attend a policy consultation meeting among
government agencies and civic groups on issues concerning inter-Korean
humanitarian cooperation today(12.16) at 11 A.M. Vice Minister Suh
will also deliver a special lecture at Jeonju Shinheung High School at
4:30 P.M.
On Wednesday(12.18), Vice Minister Suh will deliver congratulatory
remarks at an exhibition of Gaeseong Industrial Complex companies’
goods at 10 A.M.
On Thursday(12.19), Vice Minister Suh will attend the
vice-ministers’ conference at 10:30 A.M.
On Friday(12.20), Vice Minister Suh will attend the a subcommittee
of the Consultative Council on Residents Escaping from North Korea at
3 P.M.

Q. What will Minister Kim be discussing with Special Representative
Biegun? How was the luncheon meeting arranged?
A. The luncheon meeting was arranged through mutual consultation
between the ROK and U.S., and they will be discussing a wide range of
issues concerning situations on the Korean Peninsula.
Q. Do you believe it is possible for Special Representative Biegun
to meet with North Korean counterparts at Panmunjeom? Does the
Unification Ministry play any role in this process?
A. The matter of contact between the U.S. and North Korea and any
possible developments regarding a meeting is something to be announced
by the two sides. The ROK Government is not in the position to comment
on talks between the North and the U.S.
The Unification Ministry, under close cooperation with the U.S., is
looking into the situation.
