1. Minister Yu’s Visit to China
Minister Yu Woo-ik today left Gimpo Airport and headed for Beijing at 9:05 A.M to have high-level policy talks with Chinese government officials from November 21st to 23rd.
Minister’s trip to China is aimed at reinforcing China’s understanding of the current situation on the Korean Peninsula and strengthening strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
Minister Yu plans to explain South Korean government’s policy toward North Korea including plans for possible inter-Korean dialogue and show the South’s stance on denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula. Also, Minister Yu will seek understanding and cooperation from Chinese counterparts.
Today, Minister Yu will have an unofficial dinner meeting with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun after a luncheon with Korea Community China, a group of Korean compatriots residing in China.
2. Vice Minister’s Schedules
Vice Minister Kim Chun-sig is due to attend subcommittee meeting of National Assembly’s Special Committee on Budget and Accounts this afternoon.
On Wednesday, Vice Minister Kim will take part in a meeting at National Assembly’s Special Committee on Inter-Korean Relations Development at 10 A.M. On the same day, Vice Minister Kim will participate in a meeting hosted by The National Unification Advisory Council to explain the South Korean government’s policy toward North Korea. The meeting will be held at Grand Hilton Hotel at 2 P.M.
