1. Resumption of Aid Through UNICEF
The South Korean government decided to give North Korea 5.65 million dollars through UNICEF for humanitarian aid.
The donated money will be used to deliver vaccines and medicines for children and pregnant women and to prevent malnutrition among infants and children. The aid program by UNICEF will start from January to December, 2012.
2. Minister’s Schedules
Today, Minister Yu Woo-ik is scheduled to have a meeting with the Australian Ambassador to Korea in his office at 4: 15 p.m.
Tomorrow, Minister Yu will have a luncheon meeting with Chairman and board members of Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business at noon. Afterward, Minister Yu is slated to attend Government Performance Evaluation Briefing presided by the Prime Minister at 4 p.m.
On Wednesday, Minister Yu is due to take part in a fair at National Assembly displaying and selling products made in Gaesong Industrial Complex at 10 a.m to deliver a congratulatory speech.
On Thursday, Minister Yu is slated to meet Glyn T. Davies, Special Representative for North Korea policy at 1:30 p.m in his office. There will be a photo session before the meeting begins.
3. Vice Minister’s Schedule
Vice Minister Kim Chun-sig is slated to attend the Unification Concert hosted by the Ministry. It will begin at 8 p.m at the Seoul Arts Center.
