On September 14-15, the
Ministry of Unification held the 11th Korea–Germany Unification
Advisory Committee. This Council, which will resume as a
face-to-face meeting in three years after COVID-19, is themed around
the humanitarian status of West and East Germany and the human
rights policies and exchanges in the North Korean sport and culture
sectors.
Three advisory members, including Carsten Schneider
(the Minister of State for East Germany and Equivalent Living
Conditions), and seven experts, including Michael Grosse-Bromer (a
member of the Bundestag), attended this meeting.
On September
13, Unification Minister Kwon Youngse welcomed participants from
Germany and called for the German government’s support and
cooperation to encourage North Korea to positively respond to the
Yoon Suk Yeol administration’s “Audacious Initiative.”
