On February 3, Unification Minister Kwon Youngse paid a courtesy
visit to Ven. Jinwoo, the President of the Jogye Order of Korean
Buddism, where he explained the administration’s unification and North
Korean policies and they exchanged views.
Minister Kwon said that although inter-Korean ties are strained, the
Ministry of Unification is ready to proactively seek exchanges and
cooperation with the North concerning social and cultural sectors,
such as religion, culture, and sports to promote trust.
Ven. Jinwoo noted that while many difficulties remain, the Jogye
Order will also exert efforts to open the door for inter-Korean
exchanges as exchanges in nonpolitical areas such as religion and
culture are crucial in restoring homogeneity.
