Minister Kim Yung Ho meets with returned POWs and families of
abductees and POWs victims (September 11)
On September 11, Unification Minister Kim Yung Ho met with returned
POWs and families of abductees and POWs victims for the first time as
Minister of Unification to hear their stories, and expressed
condolences for their enduring suffering.
Minister Kim pointed out the unacceptable behavior of North Korean
authorities in violating the human rights of abductees and POWs and
said, “We will continue to exert pressure on North Korea to resolve
these issues in solidarity with the international community.”
Moreover, the minister said that the newly established task force on
the issue of abductees would be dedicated to addressing the issues of
abductees, detainees, and POWs, and preparing various solutions, such
as strengthening cooperation at the intergovernmental level and
increasing the understanding among the public.
