On July 5, Unification Minister Kwon Youngse attended and delivered
a welcome speech at an economic sector international forum held to
promote the Audacious Initiative.
During his speech, Minister Kwon said, “The denuclearization of
North Korea may seem like a distant future, given the North’s
uncommunicative manner and continued provocations, but it is important
to remain patient and move forward unwaveringly.”
“If we keep making efforts to create an environment in which North
Korea is compelled to make changes, North Korea will inevitably enter
the path to denuclearization eventually,” he added.
Moreover, the minister stated that “the Yoon administration
recognizes the issue of human rights in North Korea as grave as the
issue of its denuclearization, and the president is making
multifaceted endeavors home and abroad since his inauguration.”
“The government will take another stronger step forward and strive
for substantial improvements for the human rights of North Koreans.”
