Minister Kim Yung Ho meets with British Ambassador Colin Crooks (October 25)

On October 25, Unification Minister Kim Yung Ho met with British Ambassador Colin Crooks to discuss Korean Peninsula issues, North Korea policies, and human rights in North Korea.

Minister Kim expressed his gratitude for the solidarity that the British Parliament has shown regarding China’s recent forcible repatriation of North Korean defectors. He also hoped that the two nations would deepen cooperation in the future based on the “values of freedom, human rights, and democracy.”

Furthermore, the minister asked for the British government’s interest and cooperation for the issues of abductees and detainees, as well as the vision of “a unified Korean Peninsula that is free and at peace,” which was also jointly supported by the leaders of South Korea, the United States, and Japan during the summit in August.

In response, Ambassador Crooks reaffirmed the British government’s supportive view of the Korean government’s policy directions and stated that he would endeavor to expand friendly cooperation between the two countries in the future.
