Exchange and Cooperation Promotion Council approves Inter-Korean
Cooperation Fund expenditure plan to establish a digital archive of
relic materials found at Manwoldae Palace in Gaeseong

o The ROK Government held the 307th Inter-Korean Exchange and
Cooperation Promotion Council in written form from July 29 to August
2, 2019, and approved the Inter-Korean Cooperation Fund expenditure
plan on establishing a digital archive of relic materials found
through the inter-Korean joint excavations at Manwoldae Palace in Gaeseong.
o A total of 640 million won will be provided for digitally
archiving relic materials found through joint excavations at Manwoldae
Palace in Gaeseong.
o This is a project to organize and process around 600 thousand
relic materials produced from 12 years of joint excavations at
Manwoldae(’07~’18), and to build a digital archive over a time span of
four years(’17~’20).
- A total of 340 million won will be spent on organizing and
processing relic materials including photos, floor plans, and videos.
Another 300 million won will be spend on establishing and developing
the digital archive system.
o Relic materials found over the past 12 years of joint excavations
will be provided to the public, thus available for free use in various
fields including academic research. The ROKG anticipates for the
digital archives to contribute to spreading and sharing the results of
inter-Korean cooperation projects.
